The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has been conferred with an award in recognition of his unwavering dedication to road safety advocacy and his relentless efforts to reduce traffic crashes across Nigeria.

The honour was presented on Thursday, June 25, 2026, during the 10th-anniversary celebration of City Business News Online, held in Lagos. The event convened key stakeholders from the maritime, logistics, transport, energy, banking, and capital market sectors to celebrate a decade of impactful business journalism, while also acknowledging institutions and individuals driving national development.

Presenting the award on behalf of the organisers, Motoring Editor of *The Sun* Newspaper, Moses Akaigwe, commended the FRSC for its consistency in enforcing traffic regulations and executing strategic initiatives that have significantly curbed fatalities and injuries on Nigerian roads.

Under the leadership of Corps Marshal Mohammed, the FRSC has intensified public enlightenment campaigns, deepened collaboration with transport operators, and embraced technology-driven solutions to enhance traffic management and regulatory compliance. Over the past year, the Corps has expanded its nationwide sensitisation programmes targeting commercial drivers, fleet operators, motorcyclists, and other road users, with a strong focus on curbing speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, drunk driving, and ensuring the mandatory use of seat belts and child restraints.

Receiving the accolade on behalf of the Corps Marshal, the Zonal Commanding Officer of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Marshal Matthew Olonisaye, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to its mandate, emphasizing the critical importance of strict adherence to road safety regulations by all motorists. He noted that the award serves as an inspiration to the officers and men of the FRSC to further intensify their efforts in safeguarding lives on the nation’s highways.
