The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said its emergency response team, working with other agencies, extricated the victims from the inferno and evacuated them to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre, Toll-Gate, for urgent medical attention.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service battled the blaze to prevent further escalation and additional casualties. Other agencies at the scene included the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s Rescue Unit (LRU), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (Neighbourhood Watch) and police officers from Alausa Division.

LASTMA General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki commended the responders for their promptness and professionalism, saying their timely intervention facilitated the rescue and evacuation of the injured. He wished the victims a swift and complete recovery.

The agency reiterated its commitment to traffic enforcement, incident response and inter-agency coordination across Lagos State. It urged motorists, particularly operators of heavy-duty and articulated vehicles, to carry out regular mechanical inspections and adhere strictly to safety standards to prevent avoidable road traffic disasters.
