The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the commencement of major reconstruction works at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, prompting the issuance of a travel advisory.
Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time to avoid flight delays, follow all airport traffic instructions, and use only designated parking areas during the construction period. Due to limited space and ongoing activity, FAAN strongly recommends that only travelers proceed to the airport, while well-wishers and non-passengers should avoid the terminal until work is completed.
This rehabilitation forms part of a broader ₦900 billion aviation infrastructure modernization initiative approved by the Federal Executive Council on August 1. Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo confirmed that the MMIA Terminal One project will involve a comprehensive upgrade of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, transforming the facility into a modern international hub.
