APFFLON Commends Maritime Leaders as Nigeria Marks 65th Independence Anniversary

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has hailed the contributions of key maritime sector leaders to national development as Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence anniversary.

In a statement issued , APFFLON President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, praised stakeholders in the maritime and logistics industry for their role in strengthening trade facilitation, boosting port efficiency, and supporting government reforms in the blue economy sector.

On this 65th Independence Anniversary, Ogunojemite saluted the courage of Nigerians and the commitment of maritime leaders, noting that the Customs Service under Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi has made remarkable strides in trade facilitation and revenue mobilization. He added that the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, led by Dr. Pius Akutah, continues to stand as the voice of shippers, while the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), under Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, is driving operational efficiency across the ports.

He also highlighted the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) for its role in strengthening professionalism within the freight forwarding subsector, stressing that together, these institutions remain critical pillars of Nigeria’s economy.

Ogunojemite urged continued investment in port infrastructure, digital innovation, and capacity building to consolidate recent gains. He further called for stronger collaboration between government agencies and private operators to ensure efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery.

“As Nigeria clocks 65, we must acknowledge the progress made and remain committed to reforms that will position our maritime sector as a true driver of economic growth,” he said.
