APM Terminals Apapa has called for enhanced collaboration among maritime stakeholders to advance Nigeria’s trade efficiency during its annual Partners’ Engagement Forum in Lagos. CEO Frederik Klinke emphasized that unified efforts with customers and government agencies are essential to navigate global supply chain disruptions.
Terminal Manager Steen Knudsen outlined key operational upgrades: a thrice-weekly Apapa-Moniya rail service, expanded inspection yards, streamlined scanning, and optimized barge operations to accelerate container turnaround and support exporters. Commercial Manager Kayode Daniels concurrently announced digital enhancements to the customer portal, enabling real-time cargo tracking and remote transaction management for greater supply chain visibility.
Government representatives highlighted synchronized trade-facilitation measures. Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Port Manager Lawal Adebowale confirmed channel-deepening and berth upgrades for larger vessels. NAFDAC’s Olaniran Olakunle detailed automated clearance processes to reduce delays. Nigeria Customs Service Assistant Comptroller Abubakar Usman stressed accurate documentation for faster clearance, while Nigerian Shippers’ Council representative Margaret Ogbonna advocated inter-agency coordination to align port operations with national trade objectives.
The forum concluded with customer awards recognizing excellence in trade facilitation.
