Regional carrier Enugu Air has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of a new Embraer 195 aircraft, the airline announced today. The addition marks a significant step in the airline’s ongoing expansion and its commitment to enhancing connectivity within Nigeria.

Operated under a strategic partnership with private airline XEJET, Enugu Air will integrate the new jet into its existing domestic network. The aircraft is expected to support increased frequency and reliability on key routes from its base at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu State.

In a statement, XEJET Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Iza acknowledged the support of Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, whose focus on aviation infrastructure, he noted, has been instrumental in advancing regional economic growth and air travel accessibility. Iza added that the acquisition aligns with the airline’s phased development plan, with further service enhancements anticipated in the coming weeks.

Launched in July 2025 as a state-owned initiative, Enugu Air began operations with three Embraer 170 aircraft. While it pursues its own full Air Operator Certificate, the carrier currently relies on XEJET’s operational licenses and booking platform to conduct scheduled flights. The model is designed to establish the carrier’s market presence while completing regulatory requirements.
