Nigeria’s freight forwarding industry is set for a major transformation as stakeholders and regulators move to reposition the sector for greater efficiency, professionalism, and global competitiveness.

At a recent industry dialogue organised by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) in Lagos, industry leaders discussed strategies to reform freight logistics operations and address longstanding challenges affecting trade facilitation.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CRFFN, Barr. Igwe Onyekachi, said the sector had been plagued by fragmentation, inefficiency, and inadequate training, noting that the council was determined to restore professionalism and accountability in freight forwarding.

According to him, the ongoing reform will focus on capacity building, digitalisation, and improved collaboration among government agencies and industry players to streamline processes within Nigeria’s supply chain network.

“We are committed to transforming the freight forwarding sector through education, digital skills, and stronger institutional synergy. Our goal is to align the industry with global logistics standards and make it a driving force for trade facilitation in Africa,” Onyekachi stated.
