Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned a major 16.4-kilometre road network and revitalized General Hospital in Badagry, marking a strategic leap forward for regional development. This infrastructure initiative targets enhanced connectivity, healthcare access, and economic revitalization in the historic coastal community.
The comprehensive road network spans Badagry Local Government Area and Olorunda LCDA, comprising three critical segments: the reconstructed 3.3km Hospital Road (Phase 1), the 7km Samuel Ekundayo–Toga dual carriageway, and Phase 3 of the Aradagun–Mosafejo–Ilado–Imeke Road. By integrating over a dozen communities with the Lagos–Badagry Expressway and key regional hubs, these roads resolve long-standing mobility barriers while unlocking commerce and tourism potential.
Concurrently, the upgraded Badagry General Hospital commenced operations with modernized facilities and improved access routes, significantly bolstering healthcare delivery. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the projects’ broader significance during the commissioning: “This transcends infrastructure—it empowers communities, elevates health outcomes, and catalyzes inclusive economic growth across Lagos.”
Residents and local leaders, including Chief Abiodun Akinyemi of Ajido, hailed the developments as transformative for daily life and economic prospects. Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to equitable progress, Governor Sanwo-Olu pledged to replicate such impact-driven infrastructure projects statewide.
