A Nigerian federal government delegation has made history by embarking on the first-ever direct commercial flight from Brazil to Nigeria, marking a transformative milestone in bilateral relations. This landmark journey comes on the heels of the recently signed Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), designed to enhance connectivity and foster economic cooperation between the two nations.

The direct route is projected to slash both travel duration and cost by approximately 50%, eliminating layovers in Europe or other African hubs. The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) confirmed the development, stating: “Nigerian government’s delegation takes the first direct commercial flight from Brazil to Nigeria. It’s said that a direct flight reduces the cost and flight hours by about 50%.”

The initiative underscores both governments’ commitment to deepening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties while significantly improving travel efficiency for citizens, businesses, and officials.
