The League of Maritime Editors (LOME) has announced plans to hold its annual seminar and award ceremony on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos.
Themed “Nigeria’s Chairmanship of WCO Council: The Expected Benefits for the Nation’s Economy,” the event will examine the economic impact of Nigeria’s recent election as Chair of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
According to the organisers, the seminar will feature lectures and panel discussions led by key maritime agencies, focusing on trade facilitation, customs reforms, and the broader role of Nigeria in international maritime affairs.
In addition, distinguished stakeholders in the industry will be honoured for their contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s maritime sector. Among the awardees are the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Pius Akutah.
Comptroller-General of Customs and WCO Council Chairman, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, will attend as Special Guest of Honour, while other top officials from government agencies, shipping companies, and trade organisations are also expected.
The League of Maritime Editors said the event is designed not only to recognise excellence but also to create a platform for critical dialogue on strengthening Nigeria’s maritime industry for global competitiveness.
