Shippers’ Council Harps On Performance Management System For Top Officials

NIGERIAN Shippers’ Council (NSC) as part of efforts aimed at boosting the performance of its management held a Performance Management System (PMS) workshop for its directors, deputy directors and heads of units.

Speaking during the workshop, the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, of NSC, Pius Akutah, reiterated commitment to driving institutional efficiency and aligning with the policy thrust of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The workshop builds on the recent signing of a Performance Bond by directors and heads of units with the Akutah during the Council’s Special Management Retreat in Lagos.

Speaking at the opening session, the Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Ahmed Garta, highlighted the significance of the PMS framework to the Council’s operations. He urged participants to approach the training with seriousness and to demonstrate commitment to achieving measurable outcomes.

Facilitator of the workshop, Prof. Adeyemi. Ajayi, provided extensive insights into the principles and practices of performance management.

He expressed optimism that the programme would not only strengthen staff capacity but also translate into tangible improvements in the Council’s overall performance.
