The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has repaired Nitel Roundabout in Sango-Ota to curb motorists driving against traffic, a major cause of accidents and congestion. The initiative, part of TRACE’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aims to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow.
Hammed Salau, TRACE Divisional Commander in Ota, stated that the repairs address hazardous road sections that prompt drivers to avoid potholes, leading to violations and crashes. Directed by Acting Commander General Elias Omonayajo, TRACE is collaborating with residents and businesses to fund materials like gravel for repairs and to install road safety signage in Ota. Salau commended South-West Zonal Commander Ajibade Adekunle for his support in executing the project.
As of August 9, 2025, repairs at Nitel Roundabout have reduced traffic violations, with fewer drivers using one-way routes. TRACE is monitoring the site for durability and planning maintenance during the rainy season. The agency is assessing roads in Atan-Agbara for similar repairs and engaging businesses to sponsor signage and awareness campaigns.
TRACE’s broader efforts have cut road crashes by 41.11% across Ogun State’s 18 traffic corridors. The agency is intensifying enforcement against parking violations in Abeokuta and plans to replicate the Nitel model in other LGAs, collaborating with the Ministry of Works for permanent solutions. TRACE is also considering training local youth for road maintenance. Residents can report issues via TRACE’s helpline (08034919165).
