Max Air refunds N182m to 956 passengers in Q2 – NCAA

Max Air has refunded N182.1 million to 956 passengers between April and June 2026, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has disclosed, as the regulator tightens its oversight of airline compliance with consumer protection rules.

In a post on its verified X handle Tuesday, the NCAA acknowledged the airline for processing the refunds but called for faster resolution of claims in line with Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, which spells out passenger rights and airline obligations.

The regulator said the carrier paid out N182,099,018.88 in ticket refunds during the second quarter.

“While this is appreciated and acknowledged, we look forward to quicker resolution of passenger refund claims,” the NCAA said, reiterating its commitment to protecting travellers and ensuring airlines comply with existing rules.

The disclosure comes as the NCAA intensifies enforcement of consumer protection measures aimed at improving service delivery and restoring confidence in the aviation sector. In recent months, the regulator has published operational performance reports and warned non-compliant airlines of sanctions.

On December 24, 2025, the NCAA named Max Air as the domestic carrier with the second-highest rate of flight delays during the review period, behind Air Peace. It subsequently warned that airlines violating refund, delay, and compensation rules would face penalties.

The NCAA has consistently maintained that strict enforcement is necessary to promote accountability and ensure passengers receive the protection guaranteed under the law.

The regulator also urged passengers to report delayed refunds and other violations through its official complaint channels, assuring the public that it will continue to hold operators accountable.
