Minister of Marine and Blue Economy
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola is convening maritime leaders at a critical summit today to establish Lekki Deep Seaport as West and Central Africa’s premier trade gateway. Hosted by the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping at Lagos’ Black Diamond Hotel, the event addresses operational and policy barriers to optimization under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities: The Lekki Deep Seaport Playbook.”
Minister Oyetola’s keynote outlines federal commitments, while Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise MD Wang Qiang details operational readiness. A high-level panel moderated by former NIMASA DG Dr. Temisan Omatseye features Nigerian Ports Authority MD Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, ANLCA President Sir Emenike Nwokeoji, NACCIMA President Engr. Jani Ibrahim, Lekki Free Zone Customs Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh, and CMA CGM Nigeria MD Hinelder Ferreira.
Discussions focus on actionable strategies to attract investment and enhance Nigeria’s shipping competitiveness. Lekki Deep Seaport operational since 2023 with a 16.5-meter draught and over 1.2 million TEU annual capacity stands to immediately alleviate Lagos port congestion and solidify Nigeria’s position as the Gulf of Guinea’s trade nucleus.
