The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the launch of Operation Go Cashless, a new payment initiative designed to phase out cash transactions at Nigeria’s major airports. The scheme, developed in partnership with Paystack, will begin on September 29, 2025, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to FAAN, the project introduces a cashless, contactless payment system at key revenue points, including airport access gates, car parks, as well as FAAN’s VIP and Protocol lounges. With this move, travelers and airport users will be required to make payments using secure digital options, eliminating the use of cash at these points.

FAAN explained that the initiative is in response to the increasing demand for safe, modern, and transparent payment systems. The agency said the cashless system would help improve efficiency, enhance revenue assurance, and align Nigeria’s airports with global digital trends.

FAAN emphasized that the rollout will be expanded to other airports nationwide in phases as part of its commitment to continuous improvement in airport operations and customer experience.
