In a bid to mitigate road accidents during the rainy season, the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) jointly conducted a safety workshop for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) on Saturday.

The workshop, titled ‘Public Sensitisation on Road Accidents,’ emphasized that the primary cause of wet-season collisions is drivers’ failure to adhere to traffic regulations.

Representing the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Efuwape, the Acting Director of OGSEMA, Mr. Soji Durojaiye, addressed attendees. He stated that the initiative aims to protect both motorists and passengers from preventable, rain-related tragedies.

Efuwape urged drivers to adopt crucial precautionary measures, including strict obedience to safe driving rules and abstaining from substance abuse that could impair judgment. She highlighted the state government’s ongoing commitment to safety, evidenced by extensive road rehabilitation projects, but stressed that these infrastructural improvements are ineffective without responsible driver behavior.
