Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have been called upon to uphold high standards of integrity and professionalism as part of preparations for the increased road traffic expected during the upcoming festive period.
At a town hall meeting in Kano, organised by the FRSC Sector Command as part of its Ember Months safety campaign, former Acting Corps Marshal and current Special Adviser on Policy and Social Development to the Kano State Governor, Danyaro Ali Yakasai, reminded officers of the Corps’ founding values. He cited its pioneer chairman, Prof. Wole Soyinka, as an example of selfless service, discipline, and patriotism.
Yakasai said the festive road campaign demands that FRSC personnel embody these ideals, noting that public office should be a platform for sacrifice and nation-building rather than personal gain.
He also urged the Corps to strengthen regulation of commercial tricycle operators, pointing out their growing involvement in road accidents and the need for proper licensing and training.
The call comes as road traffic is expected to surge ahead of Christmas, heightening accident risks and testing the Corps’ operational capacity. The Kano Sector Command was commended for its commitment to safety enforcement and its role in reducing road crashes in the state.
