The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has reiterated that efficient service delivery remains central to the agency’s mandate as it continues to strengthen its operations in line with global maritime standards.
Mobereola made this known during a courtesy visit by officials of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) to the NIMASA headquarters in Lagos. He emphasized that effective and transparent service delivery is key to driving stakeholder confidence, revenue growth, and national economic development.
According to him, the agency’s goal is not merely to generate revenue but to ensure that all its processes and engagements with stakeholders are timely, transparent, and technologically driven. “People will willingly pay for services when they are convinced that the system is efficient and accountable,” he said.
The NIMASA boss also highlighted the need for public-private partnerships (PPP) in developing critical maritime infrastructure, noting that such collaborations would attract both local and international investment into the sector. He assured the ICRC of the agency’s readiness to work closely with it in designing sustainable PPP frameworks for maritime development.
Mobereola added that the agency’s ongoing reforms—particularly in process automation, staff capacity development, and stakeholder engagement—are geared toward improving service standards and aligning with international best practices.
Recently, NIMASA received commendation from SERVICOM for its excellent service delivery, a recognition Mobereola attributed to the dedication of agency staff and ongoing institutional reforms. He pledged that NIMASA would continue to prioritize efficiency, safety, and professionalism in all aspects of its operations.
