A mobile court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, on Friday convicted 46 motorists for violating various traffic regulations.

The operation was carried out by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in collaboration with the judiciary as part of ongoing efforts to curb reckless driving and ensure compliance with road safety laws.

According to officials, the offenders were apprehended for offences including dangerous driving, overloading, seat belt violations, use of expired vehicle papers, and operating vehicles in poor mechanical condition. Each violator was arraigned before the court, where fines and other penalties were imposed in line with the Road Traffic Act.

FRSC authorities in the state said the exercise was not only punitive but also corrective, stressing that regular mobile court sittings help deter drivers from endangering lives and property on the highways.

The corps urged motorists to obey traffic rules at all times, warning that similar enforcement operations would continue across the State.
