Traxport Rail Services Ltd. has formalized a strategic technical and investment partnership with Belgium’s Vecturis to fast-track the modernization of Nigeria’s freight transport sector.

The collaboration is designed to significantly enhance service delivery and operational efficiency across the country’s key logistics corridors.

This alliance is strengthened by a strategic injection of capital from CET Group, which will fund the expansion. As part of the agreement, Vecturis has been appointed to provide direct, hands-on technical management, a move critical to scaling Traxport’s operations throughout the vital Lagos-Kano corridor and beyond.

Emeka Ndu, Traxport’s chairman, described the partnership as a pivotal milestone for the nation’s infrastructure. He emphasized that the initiative will deploy advanced LNG-powered locomotives to transport natural gas in a cleaner and more reliable manner, fundamentally modernizing freight logistics.

Echoing this optimism, Vecturis CEO Eric Peiffer pointed to Nigeria’s vast and largely untapped rail freight potential. He stated that the collaboration’s strength lies in merging international technical expertise with local vision to achieve a transformative improvement in both reliability and sustainability.

Bringing decades of specialized experience from rail operations in emerging markets, Vecturis is set to contribute critical expertise. Their role will encompass training local personnel, rehabilitating existing infrastructure, and implementing system-wide upgrades to dramatically advance Nigeria’s freight rail capabilities.
