President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to make an official visit to Ogun State today, where he will inaugurate the Gateway International Airport in Iperu and several other key infrastructure projects, according to a statement from the state government.

The President’s itinerary includes the unveiling of two newly acquired aircraft under the Gateway Air initiative, operated in partnership with ValueJet, marking the official launch of the state’s aviation programme. During the event, Mr. Tinubu will also witness a cargo operations demonstration by the Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL), signalling the airport’s readiness for full-scale logistics and freight activities.

As part of the airport’s supporting facilities, the President will inaugurate 1,000 electric bikes under the state’s electric mobility initiative, 80 security vehicles, and a fleet of agricultural tractors aimed at boosting food production.

Beyond the aviation sector, Mr. Tinubu will inaugurate the Ilishan–Iperu Airport Road, which connects the new airport to surrounding communities. He is also scheduled to inspect the Nigeria Customs Service Village and inaugurate the Forward Operating Base (FOB) building to strengthen border security and trade facilitation.

The visit will further see the President inaugurate the Gateway Aviation Village, a complementary development supporting the state’s aviation ecosystem. He will also unveil the reconstructed ‘Old Ibadan Road’ (Sapade–Ilishan Road), which has been renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway.

Rounding off the itinerary, the President will inspect the Sagamu–Benin Concrete Road, a major federal infrastructure project along one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors.

According to the statement by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the projects collectively reflect the state government’s vision of building a modern, economically vibrant, and well-connected state. The visit also underscores ongoing synergy between federal and state governments in driving sustainable development.
