The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the suspended Abuja–Kaduna passenger train service will resume operations on October 1, 2025, releasing a preliminary schedule for travelers.

The resumption follows a derailment in late August that forced the suspension of train operations along the route. The NRC has since conducted track repairs, safety evaluations, and rolling stock inspections to ensure the corridor is safe for service.

In a public notice, the NRC said that services will begin with limited runs, and full schedules will be phased in as infrastructure stabilization and safety checks continue. Passengers are advised to confirm timings ahead of travel.

While the restored service brings relief to commuters between the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna, the NRC cautioned that operations may be adjusted depending on ongoing safety audits and regulatory clearances.

The development marks a crucial step in restoring confidence in Nigeria’s railway links and improving mobility along one of the nation’s key passenger corridors.
