More airlines have confirmed participation in the 21st edition of the Akwaaba African Travel Market, scheduled to hold from September 14 to 16, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Organisers said this year’s edition will record the largest presence of airlines since the event began, as carriers from across Africa and beyond join hoteliers, tour operators, and tourism boards to showcase services and innovations.
Founder of the travel market, Ambassador Ikechi Uko, said the expo has become a hub for African tourism development, offering opportunities for networking, partnership building, and discussions on evolving trends such as eco-tourism, regional connectivity, and destination marketing.
The event will also feature exhibitions from various African countries, highlighting leisure and business destinations, cultural attractions, and emerging tourism products. According to Uko, the increased airline participation underscores Lagos’ role as a strategic gateway to Africa’s travel and tourism sector.
Now in its 21st year, Akwaaba is regarded as one of the continent’s leading travel expos, drawing participants from airlines, government agencies, travel agencies, and investors seeking to expand Africa’s tourism potential.
