The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have reaffirmed their earlier statements denying the reported accident involving 16 prospective corps members in Gombe State.

In a follow-up press release issued on Thursday, the FRSC described the widely circulated report as “false and malicious,” confirming that no road traffic crash involving NYSC members has been recorded in Gombe or neighboring states in recent days.

The NYSC management has also released an official circular urging the public, particularly corps members and their families, to rely only on verified communication channels. “We appeal to Nigerians to disregard this disturbing fabrication and confirm all news through our official platforms,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, security agencies have begun tracing the origin of the viral post, which featured unrelated accident images. The public has been advised to avoid sharing unverified content, especially where national service and public safety are involved.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of corps members during trave, a persistent challenge the scheme continues to address through revised travel guidelines and collaboration with transport unions.
