A new online platform, EncycloAMTs, has been launched to help address the growing shortage of certified aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs) in Nigeria and across the global aviation sector.
The initiative provides training resources, case studies, and professional development tools designed to equip technicians with modern skills aligned with international standards. The platform also offers access to community forums, webinars, and subscription-based courses aimed at bridging the gap in technical manpower.
According to industry experts, the aviation sector faces an increasing shortage of qualified AMTs due to retirements, limited training facilities, and complex certification processes. Global projections suggest that the shortfall could reach 25,000 technicians by 2028 if not urgently addressed.
EncycloAMTs, which runs both free and premium membership plans, is expected to complement traditional aviation schools and training centres by making materials more accessible to aspiring and practicing professionals. The developers say the platform will particularly benefit regions such as Africa, where demand for skilled aviation technicians continues to outpace supply.
Aviation stakeholders have welcomed the launch, describing it as a timely step that could improve safety, enhance airline reliability, and strengthen workforce capacity in the industry.
