The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the housing needs of Nigerian workers, with specific focus on staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, gave this assurance during a meeting with the leadership of the NRC workers union in Abuja.

In his remarks, the Minister emphasized the administration’s determination to ensure that every dedicated worker, including those in the NRC, has access to decent and affordable housing before retirement. “Our goal is to make home ownership a reality for all categories of workers,” Dangiwa stated. “No worker should retire without a roof over their head.”

To facilitate this, the Minister directed the union leadership to compile and submit a comprehensive list of members interested in participating in any of the ministry’s housing programs for proper consideration.

The visit was initiated by the NRC Workers Union, led by its Chairman, Kazeem Yusuf. Yusuf stated that the purpose was to seek a collaborative partnership with the ministry to secure housing allocations for railway workers in Abuja and other major urban centers.

The meeting underscores the ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to prioritize worker welfare and tackle the national housing deficit.
