The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced a special enforcement initiative targeting the use of counterfeit and unauthorised vehicle number plates, overloading, and unsafe haulage practices.
Codenamed “Operation Guduma,” the strategic intervention patrol is designed to reduce fatal road traffic crashes nationwide. Command spokesperson Afolabi Odunsi disclosed in a statement that dedicated enforcement teams would monitor and prosecute offenders involved in the use of fake diplomatic licence plates, vehicle overloading, mixed loading, and the conveyance of unsecured containers.
The operation, carried out in strict compliance with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters, is being supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) J.O. Asaolu, who was appointed by the Corps Marshal to lead the special intervention. It is being conducted in collaboration with the Ogun State Sector Commander, RS2.2, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.
Corps Commander Ogunjobi urged motorists, transport operators, fleet managers, and all road users in the state to adhere fully to traffic regulations both during and after the enforcement period. He reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on traffic violations that endanger lives and property, emphasising that the safety of all road users remains the Corps’ top priority.
