The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has increased the number of daily trips on the Lagos Blue Line Rail from 72 to 94 in a move aimed at improving commuter experience and reducing waiting times.
The expanded schedule, which takes effect immediately, also introduces earlier train operations, with the first service now departing at 6:00 a.m. to accommodate more passengers during peak travel periods.
According to LAMATA, the increase in trips is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and meet the growing demand for rail transportation along the Blue Line corridor. The agency noted that the additional trips would improve convenience for commuters, reduce overcrowding at stations, and provide more flexible travel options for residents who rely on the rail system for daily movement.
The Blue Line Rail, which connects Marina to Mile 2, has continued to record increasing patronage since the commencement of commercial operations, emerging as a key component of Lagos State’s integrated transport network.
