The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority has secured community endorsement for the construction of a modern bus terminal at the Ketu Lay-by, Demurin bound, following a high-level meeting with Agboyi-Ketu stakeholders on Thursday.
The project falls under the Quality Bus Corridor Package 1 and covers the Ketu–Alapere–Akanimodo corridor. It is expected to ease persistent traffic congestion and provide organized boarding facilities for commuters.
The meeting was led by Oba Isiaka Balogun, the Oba of Ketu-Kosofe, with representation from the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area including Vice Chairman Ganiu Fatai, Secretary Tajudeen Akinyemi, and legislative leader Aderoju Adekunle. Ward councillors and community representatives also attended.
Femi Fayombo, briefing stakeholders, confirmed that contractors are ready to mobilize to site. He noted that while the terminal upgrade expands the original project scope, the Lagos State Government approved it as a direct intervention to improve transport efficiency in the area.
Director of Transport Policy and Coordination S.A. Agbomeji, representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, stressed that the project’s success requires cooperation. A formal agreement will mandate that traders vacate road shoulders for designated stalls and that informal transport operators use approved loading zones.
The Ketu terminal is part of the Lagos Strategic Transport Master Plan, which integrates bus, rail, and water transport into a single urban mobility network.
