Trucks Transit Parks Limited (TTP) has unveiled plans to expand its technology footprint as part of efforts to improve traffic control, security, and safety standards at Nigerian ports.

The company’s Managing Director, Jama Onwubuariri, disclosed this during a media briefing in Lagos, noting that the move would deploy e-tags, radio frequency identification (RFID), and artificial intelligence-driven compliance systems to streamline port operations.

Since the introduction of the electronic call-up system, “Ètò,” in 2021, Onwubuariri said more than three million truck trips have been scheduled through the platform, reducing congestion and improving turnaround time for trucks and cargo.

He, however, identified persisting challenges such as poor road infrastructure, gridlock on port access routes, safety lapses, substandard trucks, and inefficiencies caused by middlemen. According to him, the planned expansion will help address these gaps and sustain progress.

Onwubuariri also urged greater collaboration among government agencies, regulators, and private sector players to improve efficiency in the logistics and maritime sectors. He further suggested harmonizing similar technology across West Africa to support regional trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
