Turkish Airlines, Samsung Launch Smart-Tagged Baggage Service

Turkish Airlines has teamed up with Samsung to roll out a new “Smart Tagged Baggage Service,” allowing passengers to locate checked luggage in real-time using Samsung’s tracking technology.

Passengers who attach a Galaxy SmartTag2 to their suitcases and register them via the SmartThings Find app will be able to share a tracking link with the airline in case the luggage goes missing or is delayed giving baggage-services staff live location data to speed up recovery. Passengers can also upload a photo of their luggage in the app to help staff properly identify the bag among many similar ones at baggage claim.

Officials say the new service reflects Turkish Airlines’ broader digital-transformation drive, aimed at improving customer experience and setting a new standard for luggage-handling efficiency in the aviation industry.

The rollout marks the first time an airline globally has formally integrated Samsung’s SmartThings technology for passenger baggage tracking making Turkish Airlines a pioneer among its peers.
