Following a suspension of more than two months, the Warri–Itakpe Train Service is set to resume operations on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

The period of inactivity had forced approximately 1,000 daily passengers to find alternative transport, while also adversely affecting small businesses around the Ujevwu Station in the Udu council area of Delta State.

Operations will resume with seven coaches, six standard-class and one business class. Ticket sales are no longer handled at station counters but via the online service portal opened ahead of the resumption.

In a statement, NRC Managing Director Dr Kayode Opeifa apologised for the inconvenience caused by the suspension and reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable rail services.

Commuters and stakeholders in the affected region are expected to welcome the move, which is set to restore a vital transport link and support the local economy.
