The Ikorodu Ferry Terminal will reopen for full passenger operations on Monday, 19 January 2026, after months of closure caused by a dense water hyacinth infestation that blocked navigation and disrupted services.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) announced the reopening following the successful clearance of water hyacinth from the affected waterways, safety assessments and consultations with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

Ferry services had been suspended at the terminal since 20 October 2025 after thick mats of the invasive aquatic weed made navigation unsafe, forcing operators to divert services to Ibeshe Terminal and Offin Jetty.

LASWA directed all ferry operators to resume normal operations according to approved schedules and ensure strict compliance with safety and operational requirements as services restart.
