The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across key corridors in the state to facilitate the commissioning of critical infrastructure projects scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the temporary traffic measures are necessary to ensure public safety and the seamless execution of the events.

Motorists have been strongly advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and avoid affected routes during the specified periods to minimise disruptions.

According to the statement, the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will take place on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This will impact traffic flow around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota. Road users traversing these areas during the timeframe are encouraged to explore alternative routes to ease congestion and ensure timely movement.

On Thursday, April 9, two separate commissioning events are scheduled within the same time window of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The first, involving the Tolu Schools Complex, is expected to affect traffic within Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle. Commuters in these areas are advised to make adequate travel arrangements and allow for extra time.

Later in the day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another high-profile event will take place at Eko Hotel and its surrounding corridors in Victoria Island. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or anticipate significant delays.

To mitigate the impact on road users, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, alongside other traffic management agencies, will be fully deployed across affected routes to manage vehicular movement and provide assistance.

The statement also noted that additional traffic personnel have been mobilised for the events, which are expected to attract high-level attendance, including Bola Tinubu.
