MMIA Records Fastest Growing Air Traffic

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has disclosed that the Murtala Muhammed International Airport recorded the fastest-growing air traffic in Africa in 2025.

According to the FAAN boss, the airport witnessed a significant increase in passenger and aircraft movement, positioning it as a leading aviation hub on the continent. This growth is attributed to improved airport infrastructure, enhanced operational efficiency, and increased airline activities.

The development reflects Nigeria’s growing importance in regional and international air travel, particularly through Lagos, which serves as a major gateway for passengers and cargo movement.

The FAAN Managing Director noted that ongoing investments and reforms in the aviation sector have contributed to the steady rise in traffic, while efforts are being intensified to further improve service delivery, safety standards, and passenger experience.
