The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced significant progress toward achieving International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification, confirming that approximately 70% of the required policy implementation is now complete. Managing Director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku has assured that the agency aims to close all remaining gaps by December 2025.

The announcement was made during the official unveiling of FAAN’s Integrated ISO Policy in Lagos. Kuku, represented by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. Luqman Emiola, emphasized that the policy reinforces the principle that undocumented processes are unrecognized processes. She explained that the framework provides a structured guide for internal audits and ensures that all operations align with global standards for service quality, safety, and environmental responsibility.

The integrated policy merges two key ISO standards, the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System into a unified operational model. Through this initiative, FAAN seeks to institutionalize a culture of excellence, sustainability, and accountability across all its airports.

External auditors are scheduled to arrive in Nigeria in November to conduct a comprehensive assessment ahead of the anticipated December certification. The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, commended the FAAN management and the Directorate of Special Duties for driving the initiative and reiterated the authority’s commitment to embedding quality and sustainability at every level of operation.
