The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has praised the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for successfully resolving the backlog in driver’s licence issuance across Nigeria.

In a statement, PEBEC Director-General Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu said the corps undertook a full internal review after a formal communication on November 7, identified the root cause of the delays, and restored system functionality.

PEBEC welcomed the FRSC’s achievement of increasing daily production capacity to 15,000 licences, calling it a “major milestone” in improving service efficiency.

The council also commended the introduction of a Contactless Biometric Capture System, which will enable the issuance of permanent driver’s licences within 48 hours eliminating the need for temporary licences.

PEBEC urged applicants whose licences have been produced to collect them from FRSC offices nationwide, noting that there are over 294,000 unclaimed licences.

The council also reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with government agencies to ensure efficient, transparent, and business-friendly public services.
