The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the development of a Smart National Transport Databank aimed at improving transportation planning, traffic management, and operational efficiency across Nigeria.

The project, which will be implemented under the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), was approved as part of three major Public-Private Partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects endorsed by the Federal Government.

According to the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), the databank initiative is designed to address longstanding challenges associated with inadequate and unreliable transport data in the country.

Director-General of the ICRC, Jobson Ewalefoh, stated that the platform would serve as a nationwide digital backbone for transport intelligence by integrating real-time data across road, rail, air, and marine transportation systems.
