The Federal Government has reaffirmed its collaboration with the International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI) to improve port efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s maritime operations.

During a high-level meeting in Abuja, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, commended ICTSI for its continued investment in the Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT) in Rivers State. He said the partnership aligns with the government’s agenda to modernize port infrastructure and promote sustainable growth in the maritime sector.

Oyetola highlighted that ICTSI’s ongoing investments in advanced equipment, cargo handling systems, and digital solutions have helped to reduce vessel turnaround time and enhance trade facilitation. He assured that the government would continue to create an enabling environment to attract private-sector participation and drive competitiveness in the industry.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of ICTSI Nigeria, Farouk Adamu Aliyu, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the federal government’s blue economy agenda. He said ICTSI was dedicated to improving logistics efficiency, ensuring transparency in operations, and maintaining global best practices in port management.

The meeting also discussed future investment plans, including infrastructure upgrades and policy reforms to support long-term port development and sustainability.

Stakeholders say the strengthened partnership will further position Nigeria as a key maritime hub in West and Central Africa.
