The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Shipowners Association (NISA), Isaac Jolapamo, has formalised his backing for the Maritime Career Mentorship Programme (M-CAMP), declaring it his maritime-sector “legacy project”.

Jolapamo made the announcement in Lagos while serving as “Father of the Day” at the 13th edition of M-CAMP, organised by Platforms Communications. He praised the organisers for sustaining the programme since its inception in June 2016 and reaffirmed the critical need to mentor and groom a new generation of marine professionals who will safeguard and revive Nigeria’s indigenous shipping industry in the face of growing global competition.

Jolapamo described M-CAMP as a “succession-plan” initiative is a platform that brings maritime students, cadets and young professionals into direct contact with seasoned industry practitioners so they can gain real-world insights, practical knowledge and sound professional values beyond classroom theory. He urged mentees to take advantage of this opportunity to build competence and character, stressing that both are needed to succeed in the sector.

In his remarks, the convener of M-CAMP, Mr. Sylvanus Obasi, expressed gratitude for Jolapamo’s endorsement, saying it provides “the much-needed lifeline” for transforming the programme into a nationwide institution one that could extend beyond Lagos to other maritime hubs around Nigeria.

M-CAMP, launched by Platforms Communications , offers quarterly mentorship sessions tailored to different categories of maritime students and young professionals, including cadets, maritime-law students, freight-forwarders, port-management trainees, seafarers and other maritime-sector aspirants. Its stated mission is to produce skilled, ethical, and industry-ready maritime personnel who can help rebuild and sustain Nigeria’s shipping capacity.
