Lagos Begins 35-Day Lekki-Epe Expressway Repairs

The Lagos State Government has commenced a 35-day rehabilitation of damaged sections of the Eti-Osa–Lekki–Epe Expressway, with motorists expected to experience temporary traffic disruptions along the busy corridor.

The rehabilitation covers sections from Bonny Camp to Admiralty Way Junction and the Victoria Garden City (VGC) axis. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, disclosed the project details during a stakeholders’ engagement organised by the state’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

Daramola said the engagement was organised to inform residents, businesses and other road users about the scope of work and traffic management arrangements. He appealed for their cooperation, particularly as traffic volumes are expected to increase during the approaching festive season. The government said diversion measures would be introduced to minimise congestion and protect road users during construction.

The Project Director, Ibironke Olukoko, said the rehabilitation would improve the movement of passengers and goods along the strategic corridor, which connects residential communities, commercial centres and major industrial facilities. These include the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Dangote Refinery, Dangote Fertiliser Factory and Lekki Free Zone.
