The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has intensified efforts to improve passenger safety and strengthen healthcare support for its workforce as part of broader reforms in the rail transport sector.

The corporation said the initiative is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving service delivery, and ensuring safer railway operations across the country.

Managing Director of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, stated that employee welfare and workplace safety remain critical to sustaining public confidence in rail transportation. He noted that railway workers operate under demanding conditions, including long shifts and high safety responsibilities.

According to him, the corporation is expanding access to welfare and medical services for staff, with increased focus on mental health support and improved working conditions.
