Federal Government Begins Construction of New NAMA Headquarters in Abuja

The Federal Government has officially commenced construction of a new headquarters for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in Abuja, marking a key step in strengthening the country’s air-traffic management infrastructure and modernising aviation operations.

The ground-breaking ceremony attended by senior government officials, aviation stakeholders and NAMA leadership signals the start of a landmark project designed to provide the agency with purpose-built facilities that reflect its critical role in overseeing Nigeria’s Flight Information Region.

Officials say the new NAMA headquarters will house the agency’s corporate offices alongside a centralised Air Traffic Management (ATM) facility, replacing outdated premises that the agency has operated from for decades. The consolidated setup is expected to improve coordination among technical divisions, enhance operational efficiency, and support the deployment of advanced air-navigation technologies.

The project has been framed as part of ongoing efforts to modernise Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure and align air-traffic services with global standards, particularly amid rising passenger numbers and increasing flight complexity across the nation’s skies.
