Kenya Airways is intensifying its push to attract millennial and Generation Z Nigerian travellers, leveraging Kenya’s visa-free entry policy, daily flights from Lagos, and locally sourced meals to deepen its footprint in one of its oldest markets outside East Africa.

To spearhead this campaign, the airline recently hosted Nigerian media personality Noble Igwe and fashion entrepreneur Tania Omotayo, founder of Ziva Lagos, on a trip to Nairobi. The initiative is designed to introduce Kenya to a younger demographic of Nigerians who traditionally favor destinations in Europe and the Gulf.

Nigeria has been a key market for Kenya Airways since operations between Lagos and Nairobi began in 1998. Currently, the airline operates daily flights on the route, comprising four daytime and three overnight services weekly.

A major driver of its current appeal is Kenya’s visa-free policy for Nigerian passport holders, allowing stays of up to 60 days without a visa or electronic travel authorisation.

“With visa-free access, daily flights, authentic Nigerian cuisine onboard and seamless connections across our network, we are removing barriers and creating experiences that resonate with a new generation of Nigerian travellers,” said James Nganga, Country Manager for Nigeria at Kenya Airways.

Kenya Airways has also tailored its in-flight service to appeal to Nigerian passengers. Since March 2026, the airline has sourced catering from Lagos, allowing travellers departing Nigeria to enjoy local dishes, including jollof rice, en route to Nairobi.

The Lagos route is serviced by the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, featuring Business Class seats that convert into flatbeds. Igwe, who documented his journey, noted that the combination of familiar Nigerian food and premium cabin service made the trip highly appealing. Omotayo also praised the cabin service and hospitality.

Beyond leisure, the airline is actively positioning its Nairobi hub as a strategic connecting point for Nigerian travellers heading to other African and international destinations. Kenya Airways currently serves 44 destinations worldwide, including 36 across Africa, and remains the only African member of the SkyTeam airline alliance.

To further enhance customer loyalty, the airline’s Asante Rewards programme allows passengers to earn and redeem points across its network, including hotel stays through partners like Accor and Serena. Recently, Kenya Airways partnered with Visa and Absa Bank to launch the Asante Global Card, which offers perks such as airport lounge access, travel and medical insurance, additional baggage allowance, and priority airport services.
