The Shippers’ Association of Lagos State (SALS) has elected Mr. Nicodemus Olorunshola Odolo, Chief Executive Officer of Nisol Worldwide Investment, as its new President following a keenly contested election held in Lagos.

Odolo secured nine votes to defeat his opponent, Princess Mulikat Sanni of Mulifelong Motors, who polled two votes. The election also produced other key officers, including Mrs. Ngozi Modebelu as Vice President, Mr. Ganni Alli Shobande as Secretary-General, Mr. Wilson Osim as Financial Secretary, and Mr. Ike Nwago as Publicity Secretary.

The oath of office was administered by Barrister Remigius Uche-Odoh, while Pastor Jonah Amata served as the Electoral and Returning Officer.

In his acceptance speech, Odolo described his victory as a collective win for all members of the association. He pledged to foster unity, improve collaboration among stakeholders, and strengthen advocacy for shippers’ rights and interests.

“This victory belongs to all of us. My administration will work closely with government agencies to address bottlenecks in cargo clearance and ensure faster turnaround times for goods,” Odolo said, promising to reduce cargo release periods from months to between 12 and 48 hours.

He also called for reconciliation among members, urging them to set aside differences and focus on repositioning the association for growth.

Members of the association expressed optimism that Odolo’s leadership will restore cohesion and enhance the association’s relevance within Nigeria’s maritime industry.
