The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger State has flagged off its 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Campaign, with a renewed call for caution among motorists as the festive season approaches.

The campaign, themed “Take Responsibility for Your Safety, Stop Distracted Driving,” was launched in Minna by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Aishat Sa’ad.

Sa’ad said the initiative is aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and ensuring safe movement of people and goods during the busy end-of-year period. She emphasized that most accidents recorded during the ember months are caused by human errors such as speeding, overloading, and use of mobile phones while driving.

According to her, the command has deployed regular and special marshals to major highways and crash-prone areas across the state for monitoring, enforcement, and prompt rescue operations. Public enlightenment campaigns will also hold in motor parks, markets, and rural communities to educate drivers and passengers on road safety practices.

Sa’ad further cautioned motorists against night travel, noting that limited visibility and slower emergency response make night journeys more dangerous.
