The Federal Government has confirmed that the Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project has reached about 60 percent completion and is expected to be completed by December 2027.

The update was provided by a resident engineer from the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Ali Bukar, during an inspection visit by members of the Presidential Media Team to project sites in Jigawa State.

According to him, construction work has progressed steadily across the project’s two major corridors, with intensified activities currently ongoing, particularly along the Kano–Dutse axis.

He explained that key engineering works include bridge construction across waterways and difficult terrains, with foundation stages such as piling and substructure development already at advanced levels. In addition, superstructure installations are ongoing in several locations.
