The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced that it digitally captured more than 38,000 traffic offenders across Lagos State during the second quarter of 2026 through its electronic traffic enforcement system.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, disclosed this while reviewing the agency’s performance, stating that the digital enforcement initiative has significantly improved compliance with traffic regulations and enhanced road safety across the state.

Bakare-Oki explained that the technology-driven system uses surveillance cameras and other digital tools to detect traffic violations, including speeding, illegal parking, driving against traffic, and disregard for traffic signals.

According to him, the initiative is designed to promote responsible road use, reduce human interference in traffic enforcement, and ensure that offenders are sanctioned in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law. The LASTMA General Manager noted that the agency remains committed to leveraging technology to improve traffic management, reduce congestion, and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians
